The least enjoyable task that I have to do as a high school teacher is preparing students for standardized testing because I as a student hate standardized testing and I do not want to put my students through those tests. I will deal with this task by making the best of it and trying to make learning the information on those tests a fun thing to learn. Along with making sure all of my students feel comfortable taking the test.
One career possibility that I have really considered is being a high school teacher. I have chosen to peruse becoming a teacher because you get to help people everyday. Being in high school you get grade point average goals and test score goals, being a teacher you get to help children reach there goals everyday. You get to impact others in a way that most occupations will never have the chance to do. You get to watch your past students grow up to do what they have always wanted to do. The "slack off students" well you get to help change there attitude from a negative one to a positive one. Some will not change during the period of time that you have them as students but as they grow older and more mature they will realize that there "stupid teacher" was right, " I probably should have finished high school and went to college." Being able to help people is such a great feeling. I agree with Mitch Albom's response because you do not always get accepted into the university of your choice and there is nothing wrong with getting turned down for what ever reason. Whether it be because of your skin color, your GPA (grade point average), your ACT scores, or any standardized testing score. You get denied of things your entire life and that is just something you have to deal with. There are so many universities all across America that you can attend with the same great education that you would receive at the University of Michigan or even a better education. John Tapene’s words were completely fair and 100% correct. My favorite part of this article is " In other words grow up stop being a cry baby, get out of your dream world and grow a backbone not a wishbone. Start behaving like a responsible person, you are important and you are needed. It's to late to sit around and wait for somebody to do something someday. Someday is now and that somebody is you!" Teenagers are setting a very negative impression on our generation. Swag is not going to pay the bills in 10 or 15 years your education will. I believe I am leaving a positive stamp for me! As for the rest of the teenagers in today's society then need to grow up and be more responsible for there own actions and realize that what they are doing now is going to follow them for the rest of there lives. |
