There is only one way my job in high school connects to my dream career of being a high school teacher and that is because you are constantly working with people and helping to get what they want. Working at a concession stand will help to always be with people that need something. But the place that will really help with my career is to work at my church in the different programs that they offer for children to grow closer to God in all different ages are. Doing any of these jobs involves you TEACHING the children about God, and teaching is the occupation I would like to go into

The least enjoyable task that I have to do as a high school teacher is preparing students for standardized testing because I as a student hate standardized testing and I do not want to put my students through those tests. I will deal with this task by making the best of it and trying to make learning the information on those tests a fun thing to learn. Along with making sure all of my students feel comfortable taking the test. One career possibility that I have really considered is being a high school teacher. I have chosen to peruse becoming a teacher because you get to help people everyday. Being in high school you get grade point average goals and test score goals, being a teacher you get to help children reach there goals everyday. You get to impact others in a way that most occupations will never have the chance to do. You get to watch your past students grow up to do what they have always wanted to do. The "slack off students" well you get to help change there attitude from a negative one to a positive one. Some will not change during the period of time that you have them as students but as they grow older and more mature they will realize that there "stupid teacher" was right, " I probably should have finished high school and went to college." Being able to help people is such a great feeling. I agree with Mitch Albom's response because you do not always get accepted into the university of your choice and there is nothing wrong with getting turned down for what ever reason. Whether it be because of your skin color, your GPA (grade point average), your ACT scores, or any standardized testing score. You get denied of things your entire life and that is just something you have to deal with. There are so many universities all across America that you can attend with the same great education that you would receive at the University of Michigan or even a better education. Thank you, Shaun White, for not placing in the Olympics written by Shannan Younger is a spot on article, Thanking Shaun for not bringing home and trophy in the Sochi Olympics because he was the one that people placed bets on that he would take it home because of his abilities. Shaun White has taught a lesson to kids all over the world. You do not always win and there is nothing wrong with losing. Yes you normally feel better winning an event that you are so good at. Along with the fact that even thought Shaun White lost in his half-pipe event he did not give up “it just wasn’t my day” and that is completely normal to have a bad day. My favorite part about this article was that Shaun did not hang his head after no placing he was a good sport about it. I completely agree with this article because I have lost in many things before like my basketball games. My team and I lost a game that would have taken us to the tournament game. I was fine with not wining because of one thing, that being the fact that we gave it 110 percent the entire game. The team we were placed against was just an overall better team. I refer back to what my coach that year taught the team. The only time that you should be upset that you lost a game is when you did not try your personal best to win it. If you are not having a good day do not punish the whole team by not putting you’re all into every minute, every second of the game. It is not just giving it your all in the game but during the timeouts to listen to better yourself, when you are subbed out of the game watch the game. Do not to talk to the other members of the team but to watch the game, watch the other team members and see how you can improve defense. Playing sports is not always about wining but about you knowing that you gave it your all. My plan of action is to tell my cousins, the little kids I babysit, my feature nieces and nephews, and my own feature children that it is alright to lose. You do not always win. I will also not always let these people win at everything we do together. I will tell them all about Shaun White’s story. Shaun White did not give up. Shaun did not always win. Everybody has a bad day and does not live up to their full potential and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you give everything you do your best all the time. Always: at all times: used to indicate that something happens or is done continuously, repetitively, or on every occasion Win: achieve victory: to beat any or every opponent or enemy in a competition or fight John Tapene’s words were completely fair and 100% correct. My favorite part of this article is " In other words grow up stop being a cry baby, get out of your dream world and grow a backbone not a wishbone. Start behaving like a responsible person, you are important and you are needed. It's to late to sit around and wait for somebody to do something someday. Someday is now and that somebody is you!" Teenagers are setting a very negative impression on our generation. Swag is not going to pay the bills in 10 or 15 years your education will. I believe I am leaving a positive stamp for me! As for the rest of the teenagers in today's society then need to grow up and be more responsible for there own actions and realize that what they are doing now is going to follow them for the rest of there lives. The most memorable life lesson I was ever taught was from my basketball coach at my church. I played basketball for my church for 3.5 seasons and in 3rd grade I had the best basketball coach ever. Coach Norm gave the best lectures ever. That life lesson was to not give it your all give it more than your all push to give 110 percent because 100 percent is not your full potential. you will get back the amount that you put in you just might get it back in a little bit of a different way. I will hold those words in my heart for the rest of my life because it is more than true. “Should it be illegal for employers to check job applicants' Facebook profiles?” Written by Kashmir Hill. This article is all about the amount of employers that look at your online footprint before even considering hiring somebody to work for them. “The Board of Bar Examiners did adopt the policy that investigation of social networking” and I feel that if universities testing examiners have decided that to explore individuals social networking. I believe that it is very good idea that employers do look at their employees social networking footprint. I completely agree with this article because one of my best friend’s family members recently got in a huge amount of trouble because of what she posted on her Twitter. She committed an act of slander upon a teacher and got in a large amount of legal trouble. I hate the fact that she was dumb enough to even think about doing something as stupid as that. However I find this funny because my best friend and I have told this person many times that she could get in a ton of trouble for putting those things on the internet. She would like to attend Michigan State University and we have warned her that big universities such as Michigan State look at the stuff that you put out on the internet. I completely agree with this article that employers are smart to look at your internet footprint. The information presented in this article will benefit me now and in the future. This will benefit me because I know that people do not just tell you the\at you need to stop posting that on Facebook and stop tweeting that on Twitter. Someday someone important will see that and look down upon you because of your choices of what information you put out on the Internet for everyone to see. Some things you keep to yourself or share with a loved one through word of mouth not through a status update. Social media can be good but it can also be bad because most people do not know the statistics of how many employers really do base if you get a job or not on your social networking pages. However, if you’re Facebook, Twitter, and Linked-In, and all of your other social media outputs have nothing but good vibes and positive status updates you have nothing to worry about. Social Media: websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Interview: a meeting of people face to face, especially for consultation. The work that I am most proud of would have to be the articles that I have written in Writing For Publications class. I am very proud of this because I really love to write and I love the fact that I did very very good in that class. The other thing that I have done that I am very proud of is completing the class at my church to let me make my confirmation. This is not really a work sample however it is one of the things in my life that I am very proud of completing. Those are the work samples that I am most proud of. When I put my name into the Google search engine a ton of pictures of me, my Facebook, my Twitter, my Instagram, and Barolo wine. Barolo wine is a very well known wine in most European countries, Mainly Italy. Barolo wine is mainly sold in Italy because Barolo is an Italian last name. I am not scared of what my online footprint is because I do not put any negative things on my Facebook or Twitter. |
